Review: Villa Maria Private Bin Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011

This is definitely a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc summer.

In 2011, Villa Maria celebrated its 50th year as a New Zealand wine producer. Five decades of winemaking experience is showcased in this Sauvignon Blanc. I think it is a good example of varietal character and winemaking excellence.

Tasting Notes

Color: Pale yellow color.
Nose: Tropical aromas with light petrol, a background of cinnamon and white pepper adds to the complexity.
Flavor: Clean flavor of grapefruit, crisp drinking, with lemon and mango. Lovely mouth feel. Long grapefruit skin finish.

Conclusion: I like how this wine drinks, it goes down easy. Too classy for fish and chips, I'm thinking crab, lobster or shrimp salad would be a good food match. Share this wine with laughing friends, shared stories, sandals and a bottle of Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc. What more could you want?
Ready to drink now. Recommended.

Closure: Screwcap
ABV: 13%
Fruit: Fruit for this wine was sourced from vineyards across the Marlborough region. A blend of fruit grown in the Wairau and Awatere Valleys spanning a range of different meso-climates were incorporated.
